If you’re already comfortable making a single crochet stitch, you’re more than halfway there. In this step-by-step tutorial, I’ll show you exactly how to change colours in the round – smoothly and neatly – so your transitions look seamless and professional.
The colour change starts on the last stitch of your current colour. Work your final single crochet as usual, but stop after the first yarn over and pull through, leaving two loops on your hook.
Take your new colour yarn and hold it behind your work. Maintain gentle tension on both the old and new colours to keep your stitches even and tidy.

Pull through both loops on the hook to finish your single crochet. Your colour change is now complete! You’ve officially switched to your new colour.
Now simply continue crocheting as directed in your pattern using the new colour. You’ll see a clean, seamless transition with no gaps or visible joins.
